come on someone else ask a question i am starting to feel dumb here, with all the newbie questions in this area of forum,
right, ecu and remapping and map and particualr people who map ecu's whats it all about, can someone tell me the basics, i have read lot about people remapping and recommending particular people to map ecu's but not found a definitive explanation as to what it is all about, is it just a case that it gives you more bhp or is there more to it .

I'll try.
I have a UK turbo 2000 & found it slow compared to my MY99 STi..
I fitted a full decat exhaust (no catalytic converters) & an induction kit (bigger air filter). The car ran a little better & faster but not that much difference.
I was advised to have a remap.
This involes a clever bloke with a laptop forcing you to drive as fast as possible on the road while he listens to your engine with a pair of headphones
He then remaps your cars ECU (brain) to tell it you have a decat exhaust & fancy air filter.
He also maps the ECU for UK (optimax) fuel - no more octane booster.
End result is: safer, faster & perhaps more economical
Hope that helps mate.

Andy.F on SNet - have a look in technical, he posts all the time. Bob Rawle is another name to look for in the mapping world.

SergeantScooby, I have had my RA set up by Steve Simpson of TEG Sport @ Carnforth. He fitted his ALS system and I am sooo pleased with it, it flys.
:D
Pushing out 297bhp with 276 ft/lbs torque. Plenty for me and I personally dont feel the need to go anymore with it.
I have decat fuyll system with Blitz Nur Spec and obligatory induction and that's it, apart from 4 pots to make it stop better now
Hope this helps, and if you want phone number of Steve Simpson then just holla...
