colours, what are the original ones

I have a sonic blue classic type ra, i am curious as to what colours the ra has come out in, seems to be a heck of a lot of white ones from owners on here, was white the most popular choice ? is sonic blue a standard colour ?

AFAIK bog standard classic Impreza RA's were always white. Those RA's that were limited-editions came in various shades of blue depending on that specific run.

The vast majority of the RA's were sold to people that turned them into race / rally cars. Hence the reason why most of them where white. Look inside a rally car the next time you see one and I will almost bet that it was a white car to begin with.

I would love to know more about the manufacture process of the RA's in terms of do they have to be pulled off the manufacturing line by sti and have eg the bigger rear diff fitted etc?

There is confusion (in my mind) as to the actual name of the red of the early WRX RA, I've heard it called a different name but can't remember!

V2 - Sti Type RA V-Limited 555 - Sports Blue
V4 - Sti Type RA V-Limited - Sonic Blue Mica
V5 - Sti Type RA Limited - Sonic Blue Mica
V5 - Type RA Limited - Sonic Blue Mica
V6 - STi Type RA Limited - Sonic Blue Mica
V6 - Type RA Limited- Sonic Blue Mica

I think the colours & versions are pretty much accurate but if anyone knows better get posting!

I think with the bible it might be an idea to just get cracking on it and then make revisions as you go. Just make sure you put words to this effect at the beginning, a pretext.

I have a v2 STi Type RA V-Limited and have been told its called "Saltire Blue" and is royal blue in the sun but a darker blue in the shade.
I believe the colour of the paint was spec'd by Colin McRae himself as it is the commerative version that was released when he won the WRC in '95

My info gave it as "Sports Blue" but if Saltire Blue is a more accurate description that's cool by me.

saltire blue would make most sense as mcrae been scottish it could be the blue taken from the scottish saltire flag

I see where you mean now.

That's the WRX & RA brochure, those colours are for the WRX only although the car in there is an RA.

The RA was only available in Vivienne Red & Feather White.

OK, the one i near me may not be cashmere then. It's a pretty lairy bright yellow. Definitely not close to white. I'll get a pic and you'll see what i mean. It is a version VI though:confused:.

Only two Impreza model's I know of that have this colour from factory and only came in MY00 editions. I am trying to find out the colour codes for all the other one's out there, particularly the S201/202 and RA-R colours.

Method my colour code is O1G premium silver this colour was used in 2001 to 2007 range impreza's the spec-c type RA was only made in 3 colours blue/white and silver.I spoke to Ian Litchfield about it he tells me that only a handful in silver were ever made out off the 350 spec-c type RA's produced he has never ever seen one go thro the jap auction houses in silver Mine is the only one in this country in this colour,hope that is some help to you.
