Well, I've just had a couple of new mods done to the car.

It originally went into Paul at "Zen Performance" to have the air/fuel mixture checked as it was found on a recent dyno test that it was running very lean. As it happened, Paul pointed me in the direction of the Fuel Pressure Regulator and I discovered that the vacuum pipe had come off.

Whilst the car was there, the MAF sensor was replaced with one from a Nissan as these can read a bigger flow rate, the little intercooler was replaced with a nice big shiney FMIC and of course a re-map. Now I must say that I was sceptical whether the new intercooler would make any noticable difference, especially this time of year with the cold weather but beleive me, it makes a huge difference. I have retained the water spray which is now mounted behind the number plate but have not tried it yet as it completely slipped my mind until now.

I forgot to get the new PIAA horns fitted at the same time to replace the pathetic and quite honestly, embarrasing original ones which are now in-accessible, so I will just have to cut the feed and re-site the new ones somewhere.

If you are thinking of getting your scooby repaired or modded then give Paul a call at "Zen Performance". Not only will you get good honest advice but you will also get one of the best and knowledgeable Subaru engineers in the country.

I will post some pics of the FMIC when I get a chance.

What kind of difference mate?

I'm thinking of getting one.

Cheers

In terms of HP I would guesstimate about 30bhp

In terms of Torque, it pulls much harder through the gears all the way up to the limit

The only drawback that I have noticed is that there is more lag on initial acceleration although if you are in the power band its not really a problem.

The one i got was a realy bad fit it took 2 full days to fit lost fog lamps to as pipe was to fat and i think it didnt make much diff just made more lag. Thats why its going to get chipt and anti lag

tip no.1 - you should really get a remappable ecu with a fmic otherwise you arent making any extra advantage, you havent raised the boost so why fit a fmic?

tip no.2 - anti lag doesnt really work on Imprezas as they are, and dont let anyone tell you different. I will dig out whats required to make anti lag work. Most people out there who think they have anti lag actually just have a retarded timing map in the top two rows and far too much fuel int here as well, hence all the popping and banging.
"Ive got anti lag", "no you havent, you just have too much fuel in the exhaust at lift off"

tip no.3 - anti lag destroys turbos, and quickly. Certainly I wouldnt entertain the concept of fitting anti lag to an IHI blower, MHI as a minimum and Im sure the GT series are stronger still.

I'm thinking of a front mount but you dont seem too keen on them.

Any advice before I fit one?
