Standard or Modified Type RA De-Cat

Hi guys, been a while I know.

Do you need to get a WRX RA mapped/remapped if you decat it?
Please base your answeres on 1) modified and 2) standard.

Also as above for STI RA

I'm compiling some data

Mine has a decat and filter and hasnt been mapped. Runs just fine although I am getting a chip soon which although it has a generic map depending on your mods rather than mapped on the rollers will improve things a fair bit.

Mine's decatted & has an HKS induction kit & is not remapped, but will be ASAP.

My last UK MY99 was the same & I had a TEK 3 remap by BRD & the results were fantastic.

So, I would go remap if I were you, but you will need an aftermarket ECU if the car is pre MY99.

Ok,I have some more info.

The car will be picked up next week (not for me I'm happy with my RA)

The car is 94 WRX RA, an under bonnet pic shows a green mushroom induction kit, I'm guessing it's HKS like mine. (hav'nt seen the pic but I'm being told this down the phone,lol.

It has standard ECU, no chips, Induction Kit and retains the downpipe CAT.

So I can tell her when she collects the car it can be De-Catted and all will be fine?
It wont hurt to de-cat without a new ECU and mapping?

Should be fine mate.

Make sure its not run on 95RON juice though just to be safe 99 V power or the like.

The mushroom kits are a bit crap too - try an uprated panel filter. but it should be fine as it is.
