I had one on my Ver6 Limited. It was like torsen and does nothing on gravel or snow or ice. Now is Quaife from my old GT (its yours UK oldshape Turbo) much beter sollution.

Your version 6 limited has a helical front diff..........only the version 5/6 limiteds had this diff fitted, the other classic models had open type front diff.
Suretrac front diffs where fitted after the classic range finished.

Thanks for the replies. Oh well, i guess it is a helical then. I thought for sure that it was a SureTrac, but i guess i read some false info somewhere.

Just checked and the version 4 v limited also came with the helical front diff....

yeah my trans is somewhat of an oddity i guess.
It is a ver.6 RA trans with the 4.44 final, but it does not have DCCD. If it does im not aware of it, but the thing definitly drives in the gravel/snow/rain like a 50/50 piece. I unfortunatly dont have the nice R180 rear. I have instead a US spec Legacy Turbo rear with the ring and pinion changed and a R160 mechanical LSD fitted.

actually no abs either.
Did they have a WRX RA LTD in ver.6? I really need to check the tranny code if it is even still there. I mean at this point if it wasnt a STi RA box I wouldnt be able to do much about it. I bought the thing almost 4 years ago at this point and its been in 3 of my cars,

http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/wrx.html - lists the versions, from the looks of it the WRX RA only appeared up to Version 5.
My car (STi 6 RA) has an open front diff as apposed to the helical one on the v-limited models, I may change it to the v-limited version in the future if there is any benefit.

The versions are a bit complicated.
The STis were version 1, 2, 3 etc up to V6 - last of the classic.
The WRX were A, B, C etc up to G, again last of the classics.
There was a G series WRX RA Limited - 1000 were released.
Rooferman is correct, the front LSD was introduced on the Bugeye.

thanks for the heads up guys. I might actually be doing some small work on the car on holiday. I will see if i remember to get the tranny code. I have some small reason to believe that the tranny may have been upgraded reguardless of the tranny code.
