330bhp from an RA?!

Alright lads,
Heard few lads saying that you can get around 330bhp from an ra by just fitting a full exhaust system, filter and a remapped after market ecu!
Is this true?? and if not what sort of mods do you need to hit this mark??

Mine makes 310 @ 1.23 bar of boost. Brief spec and cost. All work was done by me, if you were to pay a garage it would cost a lot more.

Walbro 255 pump - 75 quid

3" decat from turbo - 300 quid

Harvey Smith up-pipe - 140 quid

Ported and wrapped headers - did them myself - 50 quid for wrap

Turbo blanket kit - 80 quid

Blitz sus air filter - 250 quid but you can buy cheaper

Apexi power pipe - 60 quid

Front mount 300 quid plus fitting - took me about 15 hours

97 OE dump valve 25 quid (needed for front mount)

440cc injectors - 60quid but for 330 brake you would be better with 550's or an adj fuel reg and 440's

Simtek ECU with antilag 1160 fitted and mapped

Lightened flywheel/exedy uprated clutch 550 quid fitted.


So your looking at approx 3k for engine mods, maybe more as I have not added the cost of clips/clamps, silicone hose, new plugs, 4 new coil packs as they can start to fail at higher boost pressures.
And then you will want the car to handle better so brakes, shocks and roll bars will need looking at. 5k total??

mines made 297BHP just with a full decat on dastec rollers:) remap is comming in 10 days but alot more mods will be on by then :p

Yeah the later ones have more power as standard so won't cost as much to get that kind of power. Mine had 240 as standard were as the later ones had 280 I think??

yup that sounds about right, 16BHP from the decat is a realistic figure :D

was going to get it mapped on methanol but decided to hold back till next summer as theres not much point in it just now with winter well on its way in :(
