Externally it could be a '04 STI Spec C Type RA. It is very difficult to tell from the pictures, which are crap. That said the interior looks wrong; Type RA should have all black interior seats/carpets without the any blue cloth. Why change the interior? Check out the Subaru Japan's web page for this particular model spec, google can give you a translation:

Also not sure that that "only 250 produced" is accurate for the '04 model. I do not think the production run was limited to that extent. The later '05/06 Spec C Type RA was limited to 350 cars.

You're right about the number; it says on the top page that "300台" were sold.

As for the interior it only seems to mention that the seats are coloured Black not blue. It does make a point of stating however that this colour scheme is an option as the all black seats use more expensive fabric. Blue may have been the colour for the base model seats as this car seems not to have any of the swanky options like drilled aluminium pedals etc. Does look like the car has been de-badged and perhaps had the front bumper modified too.

Have to agree with blindside on this one, something about it doesnt ring true the only type ra 04 model I have seen didnt have the nurgberg ring sticker on the boot??? its more than likely just a spec-c.

Spot on. The Nurburgring sticker was an option only, and for the side of the car as on other models not the rear.

[Method]

My mate went to have a look at the car's today (he is after a newage).

Checked out three cars, all looked in very good order but he was a bit suspicious about the blue one and seems to think it's a Spec C that has been labelled as a Spec C Type RA.

There is also a white one, virtually similar but with an 05 STi rear spoiler, looked in very good order but again interior was not the Spec C/Type RA that he expected.

The last one looked like the real deal, Carbon like spoiler on the rear, usual Spec C/Type RA spec, Type RA interior, wheels. He liked it but couldn't haggle a price he was after.

Said the guys seemed friendly, didn't mind him asking questions or looking around so a plus point.

I'll let you guys know how he gets on or get him to post on here as he is heading down again on Saturday to get an RAC check done on one of the cars.
