RA would not have kit, and it would have roof vent and black door handles.

RA and STI wouldn't have spot lights either, RA should have holes, STI should have covers.

Not all RA's have a roof vent. Main things to look for on the RA is:

1) Intercooler water spray/switch on dash
2) No rear wiper
3) 5th injector
4) Black door handles
5) No body kit fitted from factory
6) No fog lights or covers
7) No rear spoiler fitted from factory
8.)2 pot sliding caliper front brakes fitted as standard
9) Very close ratio box

To be fair to the seller he may have bought the car as an STI/RA or he may just be pulling a fast one.
