Immaculate and them some - especially in scooby blue!
The reason i ask is that someone just asked me if i wanted to sell it and i am just wondering what it would be worth if i did sell.
Can't really see me letting it go (my eldest son would not speak to me if i did - he has his eye on it !) cos its just too much fun :D

How much does he offer?
"They" say it's like £6-7k for an ordinary STi V5 RA, but yours might be £8k if it's bone stock and 35,000 kms?
You could see me leaving in it, and you'll know it'll come to a great and caring home in Sweden. =)

He is too clever for that - just asked me how much I would want for it. It's all standard apart from the radio! I put a decent sony in (ok, my wife bought it for christmas a couple of years ago) but hey, i have a flat 4 turbo, why do i want to listen to the radio? Awsome car though - the only thing it will not pass is a petrol station!! :p

Got back to Sweden yesterday around 10 PM.
Had it EcuTek mapped this morning, fetched Motul oil to the engine/gearbox/rear axle, went shopping studded winter tyres and had them mounted on the 17" Superleggeras.
I've got some regret about the EcuTek as I've discovered Tactrix OpenECU this minute, but I think there might be some better diffs. to the EcuTek, besides the knowledge my supplier holds! (I think it lost 50 HPs, though...)
Tactrix might be as stupid to fool with, as leaving the stock map alone and running it straight on 98RON.
THOUGH, I do believe it might hold up for quite a while on pure 98RON, as the factory PROBABLY have left some margins.
But yet, an engine is EXPENSIVE - better safe than sorry!
Tomorrow:
Off to buy engine heater kit, brake fluid, head lights (JDM style E-marked, same as stock but intended for RH traffic - 400 lorry drivers have flashed me in aggrovation these three days ), brake caliper paint, steering servo oil and perhaps a removable trailer hitch.
A new, updated air flow meter is ordered too!

OpenECU doesn't work with the JECS ECUs, only the Desno ones, which means bugeye or newer.

Wow, thanks!
Reliefed! =)
The remap was £732 incl. the EcuTek license...
Couldn't find any brake fluid today. Will ditch the idea of that trailer hitch.
Bought corrosion protection liquids, engine and coupé heater cables, coupé heater, brake caliper paint, power steering fluid.
A little service to do, then!
Tried it on the lake this evening. Quite fun! Gotta learn the car before I can use it funilly in the streets.
There won't be that much studs left in these expensive tyres when the winter's over, though! =)

Just back from servicing the car.
Have I done something wrong, thinking the three spring-covering 10mm headed cap screws on the side of the gearbox is somewhat of level holes for the oil - and I unmounted them, but put them back instantly when I realized I had to fill it up by the drop stick hole.
Fifth gear will now glide in easily, without any crunching! =)

Desno ? Did I type that ? Really ? What a twit. It should've been Denso. Sorry for any confusion. I blame this UK keyboard. I haven't used one in 8yrs, and the keys are all in funny places. Yep, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
By the way, although OpenECU doesn't support reflashing of the older ECUs, the Tactrix cable does work quite well if you just want to use it for data logging with something like ECUExplorer. I've got a v1.2 cable, and it has come in very handy from time to time.
What tranny fluid did you use ? In the US, Uncle Scotty's Cocktail was very popular. When I first got my car, I did a fluid swap to straight Redline synthetic, which lasted a few months before distinct grinding started to occur going into 2nd and 4th. Drained that out and replaced it with Uncle Scotty's mix, and the tranny immediately started to shift as smooth as butter. And one other question that may sound silly, but what did you buy to use as power steering fluid ? AFAIK, our power steering systems just use automatic transmission fluid.
Stuart.

Brake fluid and PS fluid will mix with water (condensation) after a few years, that's why I'm going to change them - to have it all serviced up!
As little as 1% water in the brake fluid can decrese the boil point by 50%, have I been told!
Going for the Red Line PS fluid. =)
Brake fluid might be Motul Racing Brake Fluid 660.
Used Motul 300 5W40 for the engine, Motul Motylgear 75W80 for the tranny and Motul Gear FF Competition 75W140 for the rear diff.
Any who knows of any repalcement pads for road use?
I think the current ones are almost dangerous, as they need some pre-heating before they'll bite enough.
COULD have been the rain, but will it stick in the pores of the pads for a very long time..??

Maybe I should use the members galler by now, then! Will do that as soon as I'm done fooling around with some details in my life. Heh.
Should've let you know, and might payed you a visit, but Ken brought me the car from Isle of Man to Gatwick, so I wasn't "in the neighboor hood"!
Ken's an honest and great seller, would buy anything from him after this deal! =)

I wasn't questioning your reason for changing the fluids, just the choice of fluids themselves.
I don't think the Redline PS Fluid is what you want. You might want to check the owner's manual and see which ATF it recommends. I'm willing to bet that the Redline D4 ATF is going to be your best choice.
I chose the ATE brake fluid, since it comes in both yellow and blue. That makes it really easy to see when the old fluid is gone, and the new is all the way through.
I've used Hawk HPS and HP+ on the street to great effect. Lots of good reviews of Ferodo DS2500 pads as well, but I haven't used them myself. In fact, I used to run HPS in the front and HP+ in the rear to get a tiny bit more rear bias.
Don't the tranny and diff call for 75W90 ? Are you going with different weights due to the severe climate in Sweden ? I just moved from Minnesota, where I'll wager our winters were about on par with yours. About the coldest I ever experienced there was -25C, but it used to get a good bit colder if you dared to venture a bit further north. Brrrrrrr. As far as I know, the Subaru crowd all stuck with the recommended 75W90 fluids. Most of the choice came down to dino or synthetic, and with or without friction modifiers depending on where it was going.
Stuart.

Didn't get the manual with me, and even if I would've I still don't know how to read japanese. ;P
The oils are what I was recommended to use, by JRM Racing here in Sweden.

Hi Jimmy,
Glad you got the car back ok - i told you it was the fluid in the box giving me grief!
Am now stuck out here in Rome (maybe until christmas, so you can see why I sold her to you :( ) but maybe you can enjoy the car more than i have the time to do. It was such a waste keeping it sat in my garage. At least i know its gone to a good home.
Thanks for the comments re selling and i will let you know when the bank transfer is made. :)

Ofc, it's not ONLY the tranny fluid messing with the 5th gear - but the change made it actual possible to flip 5th in without any hesitation. There's still a slight crunch when giving it all up to 5th, but that's not going to happen that often.
1st to 4th are the gears that will be used on snow at special stage "Hometown".
Think I had some elder inhabitans call the police, as a police car (for the first time in years!) showed up here at a late Saturday. Maybe having her for a spin at the central lake wasn't that good of an idea? Hehe.
Nothing illegal with it, though, other than "interuption of the social order" (might exist a better, english word for that?) perhaps.
I'm ashamed over the bank transfer, the first 2 grand should def. have reached you by Friday... The lady at my bank told me 2-3 days for the money to reach your account.
Wouldn't want to be seen as a bad guy, but you let me know asap since my bank can't trace the transfer any longer than status "Has left Sweden"!
I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, but I completely understand your concern! Lucky for you, I'm the most sincere (when it comes to business) guy I could think of! ;P
