Hi Lads,

Had a bit of a result Gurston Sunday 20th July 2008.

After the poor handling (under steer) on the previous meeting I found
a dodgy track rod inner joint. So changed that, had a fresh set of Toyo Proxes R888 fitted and the car laser tracked. Also fitted a centre catback Japspeed 3" exhaust. Man what a differance :-) No understeer, precise handling, a joy to drive. A bitter crisper performance as well with the new exhaust performing 0-64 Ft in 1.96 secs  I went into the RGP class again for testing purposes, won the class and set a new class record 8-)

I now have a new program for the ECU which will raise the boost from 0.8 Bar to 1.1 Bar I am told that this is safe for the WRX RA ? So should be a bit quicker in August.

Richard I am looking forward to meeting you at the two day event at Gurston, dont worry, I aint that quick against the big boy,s :D Mainly happy just burning off the 911's at present :D

Later,

Jules.

Excellent stuff Jules :cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

I have learnt a great deal this year in relation to handling, and with a "proper" set up my RA has been consistantly 1st or 2nd in class for 2008.

It will be good to meet you sometime in the near future??

Great to Imprezas humbling more expensive machinery :D

I can't get to the Gurston rounds this year :(, but will do in 2009 (as well as Prescott).

PS here is a brief summary of my day at Shelsley Walsh/Midland Automobile Club Member's meeting on Saturday 19th of July:

Left home at 0600hrs, lovely cool dry morning, then as I approached Stourport-on-Severn the rain started.

I seriously wondered if I would ever get a dry run at Shelsley Walsh.

After 103 years of runs at the world famous hill, it looked as if mine would always be in the wet

However, the Sun God came out and by mid morning (apart from a few light showers) the hill was in perfect form.

First practice, what a pratt I am - I caught the rear near side door on the pillar of the pit garage as I left for 1st practice run.

No damage, just a nice brown creosote mark on the door, which with some help from a fellow competitor, lifted off with a bit of elbow grease

Competition run 1
35.15 seconds, after I bogged down on the start (2.37* seconds for 64 feet) and made a complete horlicks of my launch, too many revs and not enough concentration.....bugger.

*Annoying as I managed a 2.04 seconds on practice in the morning.

Competition run 2
That is more like it, 2.07 for 64 feet then full throttle, not lifting all the way until bottom s bend and finish line speed of 90 mph.

God the car was just great, slight drift under full acceleration, but all under control, no dramas.

Came away with a personal best time of 34.20 seconds, and 2nd in class.

Pipped to 2nd (not by the usual Impreza boys (John/Andrew), but a Noble M12 (Tim Phelps).

Tim did a 33.99 so I was "close" and lost 1st place by a mere 0.21 seconds.

I think by the end of 2008 I can get the car into the high 33.99s.

Impreza went 100% on Saturday, the faster it went the better it felt, blindingly good driver's car.
