I found this beauty at WRC Sales:
http://www.wrc-sales.co.uk/keighley/index.php?mf=6&p=2

Has anyone checked it out in person?

Generally, how is WRC Sales / Keighleys as a company?

Thanks

WRC sales are supposed to be OK.

The Bradford showroom is about 20 mins from me.

If you are serious let me know - I may be able to check it out.

Shame the wrc titanium gear shift is missing..............looks nice in pics...

What does this mean?

We have an sti ra wrc in stock at keighley showroom, but it is not 2000 series it is 1000 series which comes with bigger turbo from stock and is more rare .

As I understand, your "ordinary" Impreza is calles Impreza Turbo 2000, which is the equivalence to our Impreza GT (218 hp and boring)?

Please have a look at this:
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/SUBARU+IMPREZA/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-240-4294966910-4294966911/advert.action?R=200818308999566&distance=76&postcode=ST16+3NL&channel=CARS&make=SUBARU&model=IMPREZA&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=
How does it seem to be?
I'm still a lit anxious about a purchase from Keighley's as I've heard they're selling totalled and restored vehicles...

Does look nice! Cant go wrong with a V5 Ltd;).

Mine never came with one either. In fact never been in a version 5 that had it. Must be worth a bit i guess. Still, replacement can be bought from Sti for 13,000 yen.

Hi Camata,

This is all new to me but it has nothing to do with our "ordinary" Turbo 2000 models. The car is an STi/RA and as these were never officially imported into the UK it has got to be JDM.

The only sense I can make of the 2000 and 1000 series bit is that the V5 limited models were a run of 1000 whereas the V6 limited models were a run of 2000 presumably in an effort to get rid of old stock before the New Age Bugeye models arrived.

WRC sales (as in your first post) are not the same company as Keighly Trade Centre (KTC) they just happen to be in the same town.

WRC have a fairly good reputation, KTC definately DO NOT have a good reputation.

Stay away from Keighley car centre. They are just down the road from me, most of the jap imports are sheds. Do a search in google you will soon see.

Thank you all for your inputs!
I'll discuss this car further with WRC-sales and see where it leads.

If I may ask you for your personal opinion:
Should I consider a deal with WRC-sales for that Subaru Impreza STi V5 WRX Type-RA Limited no. 112/1000 with VIN GC8-079836?

I'd say its worth a look if you're close. Mileage is ok, a little high for a fresh import, but that is no indication that there will be any problems with it. Not sure about the price, but it's the same or a little less than they go for here. Also big plus is thats it is unmolested mods wise.

If you look at it, look for the same kind of things you would look for on any car. Here is a 'What to look for' list written for me by Method when i got mine. There is a load of other stuff but this will do you for a quick look;

Things I checked for apart from the abvious engine wear and paperwork were:

1. Oil patches in the engine
2. Oil underneath
3. Excessive oil on the rear diff
4. Suspension noises
5. Interior wear and tear (tells you a lot about how the car was run)
6. Bodywork, check it's not had any front/rear impacts, easiest way is to check the front wings, look around the engine bay for extra welding etc
7. Gearbox + clutch check, drive the car up to speed and quickly change through the gears up and down, listen for any crunching etc. Park the car up and put it into 4th, try to pull away in that gear gently, same in 5th, should pull away without any feel of slip or clutch judder
8. Listen for engine noise by taking the rev's up (listen for noise around 3,000 to 5000 rpm)
9. DCCD - check the DCCD works, dashboard lights should go on and off as you move the DCCD up and down (leave it on the first green afterwards). Check there are no flashing lights on the DCCD panel
10. Electrics, make sure everything works (mine had very few electrics so I didn't have much to check)

The above was what I did and finally pay the extra money to get an AA/RAC inspection done. I had a 14 point check done and it just gave me a little peace of mind i.e would I be able to drive the car back home without it failing.

I've got 3000 km to Keighley... =)
They'll ship me the car to Sweden for an extra £650 which is quite reasonable - besides that I can't see tha car in person before the deal...

Maybe I can have them do this AA/RAC check and have them send me a copy of the protocol?

Weeee!
Would be awesome! Really great, guys! :D

We're in deep dealing atm, just waiting for a decision from Subaru Sweden for issuing a CoC and then it'll practicaly set sail for Sweden, Stockholm - if I don't manage my time right and take a couple of days off. But most convenient is to have it shipped to Stockholm instead of going by bus, air, train, air, train, car, ferry, car.
Collection in Stockholm would be only bus, air, train and car. =)
Just a matter of economics. Will be like £130 to get myself to Keighley (which will be doubled as I will be bringing the girlfriend along) and then like 200 km to New Castle and the ferry from there would be like £250 and then 2000 km up to Northern Sweden. Like £200 in gas? Seems most profitable to collect in Stockholm for £750 extra, as I'd loose a couple of days of work too...

I'd like pics of the modell/type plate in the engine compartment and also of every little flaw.
"Raz" @ WRC-sales states a 3.5/B grade for it, which I consider as normal for a daily used, ten year old car?

Dean Keighley Trace Centre a somewhat "interesting" reputation:

However, the guys at http://www.japperformanceuk.co.uk/ have an excellent repuatation.

They are based:
Jap Performance UK
Nesfield Garage

Camata,

Looks like it's WRC sales then.

The address is not the KTC place that I know.

If you are serious, I'll get over there & get some pics. It's a bit further for Andy (Scooby RA) so don't know if he'll be up for it.

Richard,

I've been to KTC & they do have some "interesting" examples...

They do have some very new & very expensive stuff too. When I went they had 2 R35(??) Skylines, an RA-R & 2 S204s as well as a few Porkers.

If it ain't too much trouble for you, then I'd be very, very thank/grateful!

Only thing stopping me from owning the car already is some paperwork our MOT-organisation requires when registering it for the first time in Sweden. Bummer, some new rules regarding this applied 22 september '08, so there's alittle bit more hassle for us now...

"A little bit more hassle" = I'd need a certificate for each and every one of spec for the car, ie. noice, power output, rear spoiler, gas tank, theft, brakes, brakes particular, model spec, and so on - and Subaru Sweden claims 2 000 SEK for each certificate! (£160-170)

All because your V5C is as simple as a child's drawing... 8)

Probably well spent money to own a RA, though?? :D

Yes, would be nice!
At what day are you planning to do that?
Oh, also I'd need to know the numbers of the license plate.

Origin of the car doesn't matter as it's from the JDM. Would've been alot easier/cheaper if it would have been EDM and had a CoC (which holds the required information).
If that was why you suggested me to get in touch with Finspec?

This car at WRC-sales seems to be the best option right now, as a registration at our MOT-gov will be ALOT easier if it's bone stock. All other ones I've looked at have had som sort of modifications done it, and getting a new stock exhaust ie just for the registration isn't really what I'd like to do...

Although, I feel like I'm in control of all these new regulations so once again I feel like it'll be easy to collect a car in the UK! :D

I'm hoping to get there early this week, but I'm really busy with work at the moment.

Alex (northernbodyshellprep) is up for a trip over too.

Andy (Scooby ra) cannot make it until Saturday & I'm at a wedding then.

I'll get pics of everything & take note of mods.

If your tests are the same as we have here, you'll need stock tyres too.

If its cheaper and easier to import a European car, with the cost of that ra plus the 2k thing, you are heading into MY03 sti type UK money and in my opinion would be better value if its cheaper to register.

Hehe.
Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind already! =)
Although, by principle I wouldn't buy a right hand driven car that is available as a left hand driven.

An RA is £6-7k + £1k to have it at my front yard + £2k for these shitty certificates.
That's like one grand more than what I'd need to pay for an unabused, 120-150k kilometres Turbo 2000 (aka GT in Sweden).
Cheapest MY03 WRX STi on the Swedish market atm is at £14670...

Regarding the registration in Sweden I would definitly recommend you to try to pass the register control (reg besiktningen) one time first before you get all the papers you describe. Maybe I was just lucky but I registered my ver3 Ra in Sweden this summer based only on the V5C. After they made the contoll of origin (ursprungskontroll) at the central authorities (trafiksäkerhetsverket) the guys at the register control only looked the car up in their lists and that was it. I called them in advance to see if they needed any more papers but they said no.

Regarding the transport I can recommend the DFDS freight ferry from Immingham. It is not so far from Bradford and the trip costs 3000 SEK if you travel with the car, but then your cabin and all the food and drinks are free during the 27 hour trip to Gothenburg. If you ship just the car the price is around 4000 SEK. If you ship only the car and need help with reloading the car for transportation to the north I can help as I live in Gothenburg.

As for the register control, going there without all these loooveeely certs' will just cost me the trip and the fee.
