Hello
Does anybody know where I can get shims for an STI2 lump? The little cylinder ones rather than the big flat ones.

Dealer is the only one's I know that can supply, but if anyone else knows of a cheaper and quicker supplier, I'd like to know. You say they are a cylinder shape, they are all flat, about 11mm diameter, and 3.5 to 4.5 (approx) thickness. I am pretty sure the only car's that have those are Ver 5 Type R and RA onwards. The dealer will have a part number, and thickness after the number,

Do the shims sit on the top of the valve stem with the bucket follower on top ? These are top hat shims and i tried everywhere to get them and the only place i could get them was from kent cams (you have to order through a kent cam dealer). The part number is S67-6.00. They cost £4 each. Once you get them they need skimming to the correct thickness for each valve and bucket to get the required clearance. This cost me £10 each shim at a local engineeer but were milled to a high tolerence(within a thou of an inch and my valve clearences were perfect. You may only need a few as only a couple of valve clearences may need doing on each head with a bit of luck. I hope this is some good for you m8....Good luck.....Paul.:)

There's 2 types. 1 sit's on top of the bucket, and is 32mm, with varying thickness, and the other sit under the bucket, and onto the top of the valve stem, which is 11mm in diameter. There cheaper from the dealer so, as they cost 11 to 12 Euro each, in the thickness you want,,

Sorry to bump an old thread, but Ive been searching the internet for an answer to this that I can use
Being as I'm in north america, our dealers don't have listings for my Version 4 RA heads
Anyone have a part number for the shims so I can order them? Thanks!

I actually just found that website yesterday. They don't seem to list it tho, just the standard shim over bucket they have here, and the newer shimless buckets.
Try this site, the only problem is it's in Russian, but it's easy to use once you have a play.

You can enter you Chasiss number where it says VIN and it will bring up the parts catalogue for your car, click on the line of details that it brings up and you then get the sections to choose, in English. Select the section you want and find the part number on the drawings, scroll down to then find that number in the list and click on that, this will now give you the complete part number.

No chassis number, I only have the motor :(
No chassis number, I only have the motor :(
Not a problem, start here:
http://www.subaru-piter.ru/_pages/subaru/index.php?st=30&l=bWFya2V0PT1qYXBhbnx8bWM9PUcxMHx8aGFuZD09SjJ8fGRm PT0xOTk3MDQwMXx8ZHQ9PTE5OTgwNzMxfHxncm91cD09RA%3D% 3D
Choose the model year and click on it, the drop downs menus along the top are in english when you click on them and are quite easy to use, the model drop down has the full list of model variants so just pick the model you want, engine type etc, then click the button on the right hand end.

All I'm seeing listed are HLA heads and shim over bucket for DOHC
The shim I'm looking for is the one to the right of the penny

Actually I think Ive found it. You have to go into the Japanese section, unfortunately they don't seem to list the shim sizes, just the part number, so I'm going to have to try to figure out how subaru names the shim sizes.
Part numbers seem to range from 13218AD000 (http://www.subaru-piter.ru/search.html?article=13218AD000&sort___search_results_by=final_price&search=%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%8C&term=0&smode=A&brand=) to 13218AD930 (http://www.subaru-piter.ru/search.html?article=13218AD930&sort___search_results_by=final_price&search=%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%8C&term=0&smode=A&brand=)
I know you can buy them from http://www.apiengines.com/index3.php in the UK.
David is very helpfull and I'm sure he will send to the US.

Ahh I think I've cracked it, they seem to range the same as the DOHC ober bucket shims afterall, so basically just replace the C with a D, and you have the under bucket shim numbers!!
AWESOME.
Thanks for your help, hopefully this info will be useful to others too!

Need a little more help!
Can anyone please call their local dealer and see if they have them in stock? Japan is closed all week for some national holiday, and I need these ASAP (Racing on the 27th)
If someone could order them and express ship them to me in Canada, I'd be more than happy to pay you for your time.
Part numbers I need:
13218AD670 x 3
13218AD680 x 1
13218AD690 x 2
13218AD740 x 1
13218AD910 x 1
please please please!
I'll see what I can do, I have to order a few parts for myself so I will let you now how I get on.

That would be great, thanks so much. But if you can't get them by the end of this week I'll need to find another source, I'm really right down to the wire here
I need to have the car running by the 18th or so in order to get the motor broken in and tuned in time for the race... this is crazy :loll:
FWIW this is what the motor is going into

Splinter, your shims are on my desk in front of me, they will be collected in the morning (Friday) and on their way to you. :)
