what year sti did Subaru start doing the red engine's?

The redtop was introduced with the MY96 STi at the tail end of 1995. The STi RA got the redtop with the MY97.

I have a Nov96 V3 sti ra and it has got a red top engine but someone I know has got a V2 ra (not sti) it's an early 96 and that doesn't have a red top engine...........

Same as me, mine is a late 96 V3 STI RA but they are infact MY97 model.
