Hi All,
Can somebody PLEASE tell me if the gearbox in a MY97 version 3 STI (gearbox code: TY752VBCAA) comes with a 4.444 final drive or 4.111??
On the SPDA gearbox chart it shows it as 4.444 and yet i hear from other fellows thats its 4.111.... so i'm really confused now. How accurate is this chart or is there someone out there who knows better??
I'm looking to use a DCCD version 5 type R box (4.444) with a normal version 3 STI rear diff (R160 type) which i believe should also be a 4.444 but i'm not sure now....
I need to make sure that the front & rear diffs match obviously so can anyone please advise?
Imran
This page also says 4.444

Thanks Bizz.
So i guess this means that it will be compatible with the DCCD box from the typr R.
Would you know if the smaller R160 diff can handle the rigours of being paired up with a DCCD??

Mine is an MY95 STi RA & has a Type R centre diff. It was a straight swap. The Type R DCCD has 2 lugs on it compared to 1 from my car which makes them stronger.

Hi Dean,
But your rear diff must be the bigger R180 unit which come originally with the classic DCCD cars. I will be using the R160 rear diff which is smaller and only used in the viscous center diff. Will this smaller diff be able to handle the extra workload it will be put under from a DCCD.
With a viscous center diff the R160 is getting a 50:50 split but with a DCCD it will be getting a 65:35 (rear:front) split. So will it be able to handle this extra 15%??

Sorry Imran,
I seem to have added to the confusion
Mine has the std R160 rear diff - the DCCD is all that was changed.
