Recently I installed a 95 wrx Z4 ecu(reads z4 on the sticker) in my 93 wrx ra. The RA has a stock 60 000km ej20g other than an apexi induction kit (im making a heat shield asap dont worry :) )...and JIC mandrel bent 3" catback exhaust.
When it had the stock u8 ecu it was good too however maybe I was too optimistic with the z4 ecu as it really doesn't feel like much of a difference.
I read that its a safer tune atleast so thats very good to know I was just wondering if there is perhaps a lower output automatic Z4 ecu which I may of gotten if one exists. However I hope there is just one "z4" ecu out of the 260bhp wrx's. Currently boosts a bit over 0.75 bar on 94 octane(98 ron equivalent). I teed boost hose into the far right port of the 3 on the top of the intake manifold closer to the front of the engine.

I know there are so many types of ecus and numbers to go with the spec of the cars!
Is there a list to marry the number to the car and power ratings?
There is one on ebay which states its a 6k and a sti upgrade race rally! How true is this and can you swap and change ecu's from car to car?

you would be better off removing the ind kit and refitting the std air box with a free flow filter and removing the resonator . without a remap you can actually make your car slower with a induction kit and less responsive .

cheers

Ok thanks it seems im safe in having the z4 ecu that I original heard the hype about. Also i relocated the intercooler spray tank to the trunk and theres TONS of space for me to make an effective heat blocking air box. Ill post pics when the box is done and hopefully wont hear anymore talk about losing power with an induction kit in my case. As its believable when you have an exposed cone filter in a hot engine bay. :)
