What year and model is the car ??
Different types of converter for Versions 1 > 3 and 4 > 6. Both are fairly easy DIY but the Version 1 > 3 (mechanical drive speedos) are by far the easiest being a 20 minute job.

From the moment you fit it the odometer will start to click up in miles, it cannot/will not change the exsisting reading.
Take a picture of the odometer when you fit the delimiter as proof of when you fitted the converter and therefore proof of the mileage in KM's before it was converted.

one other question :p
The speedo in the car at the moment is to 180 km there are no mileage marks on it at all, If I buy the kit does it automatically then change the speedo to show correct mph instead of KMH when driving? If not how can I get round this??
Thanks

Yeah, the kits come with an MPH sticker that magically transforms your speedo from one that only goes up to 180km/h to one that goes up to a whopping 180mph :) How cool is that ?

Do you change it at the gearbox end or speedo end
I should be getting a V3 type r around the weekend , and this would be one of the first things I wanna do.

The V3 is a mechanical converter as opposed to an electrical type for the dash layout above.
You can choose from either, dash or gearbox end, it is up to you.

I have a converter which i bought for the car, but doesnt seem to have instructions that correspond. It mentions a 3 pin plug on gearbox, but i have a 4 pin (STI Type R, version 4 1998).
Can anyone help please!

For a start you are in the wrong place.
You should be looking at installing the converter on the back of the speedo unit itself on a version 4 Impreza.
Only on a version 5 & 6 do you install it at the gearbox end.
It may or may not help much but here are instructions for fitting a converter to a version 4.

Your a star matey, will have a look and get back, last thing is my speedo reads to 270KPH. Is that going to read correct?

The 270kph unit is a STi replacement speedo unit so it will already have been delimited.
It should read ok in MPH as all the converter does is change the pulses the speed sensor sends out.

Basically when the car came from Japan it had a Bozz Speed ECU, which i have now changed for a stock unit till i get around to having the Autronic Mapped. When the Bozz Speed was in the car was delimited, so presuming it was internal to the ECU.

The whole idea behind the 270kph speedo was to delimit the car, a very expensive way of doing though.

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply. Just got around to looking at it this morning. For some reason even with the 270kph cluster it still tops out at 180kph. So i have taken the cluster out. Slight problem i cant make sense of which is the signal wire, and which of the 4 plugs its on.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Right think i got it sorted, it was a question of out with the tester! Its a bit weird as the clock reads so high the needle only lifts smaller amounts but its accurate...
Also i hit 120ish so its done the job of delimiting. Thanks for all your help guys!
